ENCYCLOPAEDIA BRITANNICA | 75,000 sf | Chicago, IL

Relocation of the world headquarters of Encyclopaedia Britannica into a gutted landmark building. Bridging Britannica’s historic reputation as an authoritative, scholarly and respected company with it’s new aggressive technological advances was achieved by the use of wood bookcases displaying original volumes of books alongside plasma displays on the first floor. The planning of open workstations for researchers located on the perimeter windows, and offices with glass clerestories and sidelights for directors on the second and third floors allows for natural light diffusion throughout the space.
